What is skiing? 🎿
Skiing is a winter sport and recreational activity involving travelling across snow using skis. It includes alpine skiing on downhill slopes, cross-country skiing on prepared trails and other disciplines. Some forms require ski lifts, specialised equipment or particular skills, while others take place on relatively gentle terrain.
Skiing and winter work exchanges
Ski-related opportunities may involve helping at mountain lodges, winter accommodation, ski events or other facilities connected with winter tourism. Some programmes may require specific skills, particularly when volunteers assist with organised sporting activities.
Not every mountain work exchange includes skiing. If spending time on the slopes is important to you, ask whether skiing is an organised activity, whether lift passes or equipment are provided and how much free time is available during the ski season.
