Explore macramé volunteer opportunities where knotting, textile craft, creative workshops or skill-sharing form a genuine part of the activities.
Macramé may appear in artistic communities, cultural exchanges, craft workshops, retreats or other projects looking for people who can make, demonstrate or share practical creative skills.
What is macramé? 🧶
Macramé is a textile craft in which cord, string or yarn is tied into decorative knots and patterns. The technique can be used to create wall hangings, plant holders, bags, jewellery, decorative objects and other handmade pieces.
Macramé and creative workshops
Some volunteer projects invite participants to share macramé as part of a wider programme of arts, crafts or informal workshops. Others may look for someone with enough experience to lead a specific activity or help create handmade objects.
General artistic or craft activities should not automatically be treated as macramé. The technique should be explicitly mentioned or clearly included in what participants are expected to make, demonstrate or teach.
