Interviews 🎤
Explore interviews and conversations from Voluntouring.org with travellers, volunteers, hosts, community members and other people connected with volunteering, alternative lifestyles and meaningful travel.
These articles offer first-hand perspectives on journeys, projects, community life and personal experiences. They form part of the wider Voluntouring blog and are separate from individual volunteer opportunity listings.
What belongs in the Interviews section? 🎤💬
This section is for editorial articles based mainly on direct conversations, questions and answers, or interviews with people whose experiences are relevant to volunteering, travel, community life or alternative ways of living. The word “interview” in a recruitment or application process does not make a volunteer listing part of this section.
Interviews and testimonials
Interviews and volunteer testimonials can both contain personal experiences, but they are not identical. An interview is normally shaped through questions or a conversation, while a testimonial or personal story may be written directly by the contributor in their own narrative form.
Some interviews may also appear under themes such as Slow travel, responsible travel, nomadic living or particular types of volunteering when those subjects are genuinely central to the conversation.
How to use this page
Browse the interviews below to read first-hand accounts and perspectives from people connected with different journeys, communities and projects. Some articles are several years old, so practical information, organisations, contact details and circumstances described by the interviewee may have changed since publication.
Interviews reflect the experiences and views of the people speaking at the time. They should not automatically be treated as verification or endorsement of a host, organisation, travel method or volunteering programme.
