Igloo
Explore volunteer and work exchangeA work exchange is an arrangement in which a traveller contributes an agreed amount of help to a host in return for benefits such as accommodation, meals or learning opportunities. Conditions vary by host. opportunities involving igloos and glass igloo accommodation, including hospitality projects where these structures are genuinely part of the site, accommodation or practical activities.
Modern tourism projects sometimes use the term “glass igloo” for transparent or glass-roofed cabins and domes designed for viewing the surrounding landscape and night sky. These are different from traditional igloos made from snow, but both may appear on this page when they are concretely connected with a project.
What belongs on this page? ❄️✨
This page includes projects where an igloo or accommodation explicitly described as a glass igloo is a genuine part of the site, hospitality activity or volunteer experience. A normal dome, cabin or winter accommodation should not be included simply because it has a rounded shape or is located in a snowy area.
Igloos, domes and glamping
These concepts can overlap without being identical. A dome describes the shape or construction of a structure, while glamping describes a style of outdoor accommodation offering more facilities or comfort than traditional camping. Glass igloos are often used within tourism or glamping projects, but not every dome or glamping unit is an igloo.
