Explore fundraising volunteer opportunities and resources for people who want to support NGOs, charities, community organisations and other projects with fundraising activities.
Fundraising roles vary considerably. Volunteers may help plan campaigns, communicate with donors, research potential supporters, develop sponsorships, organise events, prepare online appeals or support other activities connected with raising funds. Some opportunities take place on site, while others can be completed remotely.
What counts as fundraising volunteering? ๐๏ธ
Fundraising volunteering involves helping an organisation obtain financial support for its activities or projects. This can include campaign planning, donor outreach, crowdfunding, sponsorship research, fundraising events, communications and other clearly defined activities. Grant writing can form part of fundraising, but it is a more specialised activity focused on applications to foundations, institutions or other funders.
Fundraising, grant writing and online volunteering
Fundraising roles often overlap with grant writing, marketing, social media and communications. Read the individual listing to understand which tasks are actually involved and what skills or experience the organisation expects.
Some organisations also recruit remote fundraisers. If working from home is important to you, look specifically for online volunteering opportunities rather than assuming that an on-site role can automatically be converted into remote volunteering.
How to use this page
Check the publication date and confirm the current fundraising tasks, expected hours, supervision, required experience and whether the role is remote or on site. For on-site opportunities, also confirm accommodation, meals, minimum stay, fees or compensation before applying.
If the role involves donor information, payment accounts, cash, mailing lists or representing an organisation publicly, ask what access you will have, who supervises the work and what privacy or financial procedures apply.
