What does blogging involve? ✍️💻
Blogging usually involves creating and publishing articles or posts on a website. Depending on the project, this can include researching topics, interviewing people, writing, editing, selecting images, preparing posts in a content management system and basic search optimisation. Blogging overlaps with writing and social media, but the activities are not identical.
Blogging as a volunteer role
Some hosts look for occasional help with stories or project updates, while others expect regular content production. Before accepting a role, ask what subjects you will cover, how often content is expected, who edits and approves it, and whether your work will be published under your name or can be used in your portfolio.
If blogging is part of regular marketing or communications work for a commercial business, consider whether the workload resembles ordinary employment and check any relevant employment or immigration requirements.
