Current security context
Russia’s war against Ukraine continues to create serious and rapidly changing security risks. At the time of this review, official travel advice distinguishes between different regions, but significant restrictions and warnings remain in place across the country.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office currently advises against all travel to most of Ukraine and against all but essential travel to certain western regions. Missile and drone attacks can also affect areas far from the front line.
Check the latest official travel advice for Ukraine issued by your own government before considering any journey. Travel against official advice may also affect insurance coverage.

If an opportunity appears current, read the full announcement and use the contact details provided in the listing to communicate directly with the organisation or host.
Before considering participation, confirm the current availability, exact location, activities, accommodation, transport arrangements, security procedures and any costs directly with the organisation.
For projects operating in or near areas affected by military activity, ask how the organisation assesses security risks, what emergency procedures are in place and whether international volunteers are currently being accepted.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, evacuations or travel to Ukraine and does not supervise the organisations listed in this archive.
Visas, entry requirements and insurance
Entry and visa requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and purpose of travel. Do not rely on visa information contained in an older volunteering announcement.
Check the current requirements through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine visa information and the relevant Ukrainian embassy or consulate before travelling.
Do not assume that a host can provide an invitation, visa support or documentation suitable for your particular circumstances unless this has been explicitly confirmed.
Insurance is particularly important. Check directly with your insurer whether travel to the relevant region of Ukraine is covered and whether the volunteering activities themselves are included in the policy.
Other ways to support Ukraine
Travelling into Ukraine is not the only way to help. Volunteers may also consider supporting established humanitarian organisations, refugee initiatives and Ukrainian communities operating in neighbouring countries or in their own country.
