Latvia 🇱🇻
Explore volunteering opportunities in Latvia, including community projects, European volunteering programmes, hospitality exchanges and other independent volunteering experiences.
Some opportunities may be seasonal, archived or no longer active. Always check the publication date and confirm current availability directly with the host or organisation before making travel plans.
How to use this page
Open the opportunity that interests you and read the full announcement carefully. Check the publication date, activity dates and any application deadline before contacting the host.
To apply or request more information, look for the contact details at the end of the listing. Depending on the project, these may include an official website, email address or application form.
Before accepting an opportunity, confirm the expected activities, weekly hours, days off, accommodation, meals, exact location, transport arrangements and any fees or contributions directly with the host or organisation.
Some projects may provide accommodation, meals or other forms of hospitality, while funded volunteering programmes may offer additional support. Conditions vary between opportunities, so always confirm exactly what is included.
Voluntouring does not organise placements, select volunteers or mediate between volunteers and hosts. Older announcements may remain online for archival and informational purposes.
European volunteering programmes
Some opportunities in Latvia may be organised through European programmes such as the European Solidarity Corps and can include accommodation, food, insurance, travel support or pocket money, depending on the specific project and eligibility conditions.
You can also browse European Solidarity Corps volunteering opportunities published on Voluntouring.org.
Older listings may still use the term European Voluntary Service (EVS), the former EU volunteering programme that preceded the European Solidarity Corps.
Visas and volunteering in Latvia
Entry and residence requirements depend on your nationality, length of stay and the nature of the volunteering activity. Do not assume that visa-free or tourist entry automatically permits every type of volunteering or work exchange.
For certain non-EU nationals participating in formal volunteering programmes financed by the European Commission or an international organisation, Latvia provides a specific long-stay visa procedure. Eligibility and documentation requirements apply, and these arrangements should not be assumed to cover informal hospitality exchanges or every type of volunteer project.
Check the current requirements through the EU Immigration Portal information for volunteers in Latvia and the relevant Latvian authorities before travelling.
Insurance and practical arrangements
Make sure your insurance covers the activities involved in the project. Farming, construction, outdoor activities, animal care and other forms of practical work may not automatically be covered by every standard travel policy.
If a contribution or deposit is requested, ask for the exact amount, what it covers and whether it is refundable before making any payment.
For additional general guidance, read Voluntouring’s information about safety and legality in volunteering and work exchanges.
Important: project availability, accommodation arrangements, immigration requirements and insurance conditions can change. Confirm current information directly with the host and consult relevant official sources before making travel or financial commitments.
