Smiling students at a girls’ school in Anupshahr, Uttar Pradesh, welcome international volunteers who want to share their English skills and learn from rural India at the same time. This philanthropic school focuses on education, employment and empowerment for girls and young women from nearby villages. As a volunteer you help teachers with simple classroom activities, conversation practice and homework support, usually 4 to 5 hours per day from Monday to Friday. In return you receive a private room, three vegetarian meals a day and guidance with visa letters and airport pickup. Free time is for chatting with the girls, learning basic Hindi, joining local festivals or simply relaxing on campus along the Ganges River.
