Take part in a practical work exchangeA work exchange is an arrangement in which a traveller contributes an agreed amount of help to a host in return for benefits such as accommodation, meals or learning opportunities. Conditions vary by host. in the French countryside, sharing everyday rural life with Evelyne and her family. Volunteers help for around 3 to 4 hours a day with tasks such as cutting and splitting firewood, gardening, cleaning, hay stacking and other seasonal work. Food and tent accommodation are included, while afternoons and weekends are generally free for hiking, exploring nearby villages and enjoying the surrounding mountains and forests.
