Volunteering opportunities in Hungary | Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe, known for its wide plains, thermal springs, historic towns, wine regions, hiking trails and rich cultural heritage. A volunteer trip to Hungary can be a great way to discover the country more slowly, meet local communities and experience everyday life beyond the usual tourist routes.
How to use this page
Click on the announcement you are interested in and read the project description carefully. Please check the publication date, as some opportunities may no longer be available. If the announcement is still valid, look for the contact details section, usually located at the end of the post. There you may find a website, email address, phone number, application form or other free ways to contact the host or organisation directly.
Many opportunities published on Voluntouring.org are based on a volunteer exchange: you may receive food, accommodation or other basic benefits in exchange for a few hours of help. Conditions vary from project to project, so always read the description carefully and ask the host for clear information about the tasks, schedule, accommodation, meals and any other practical details before making a commitment.
Some programs may also offer pocket money, especially in the case of funded youth volunteering projects. You can also check:
- EVS – European Voluntary Service (usually available for young people aged 18–30)
- ESC – European Solidarity Corps (usually available for young people aged 18–30)
- Pocket money – opportunities page
Important note about visas and travel costs
If you are travelling from outside the European Union or the Schengen Area, please check visa requirements, entry rules and any possible work or volunteering restrictions before contacting a host or making travel plans.
Volunteering does not automatically give anyone the right to move to another country, stay long-term or travel for free.
Hosts, families, organisations, and local communities may not be able to provide invitation letters, visa support or financial guarantees. It is your responsibility to check official information from the relevant Hungarian embassy, consulate or immigration authority and to make sure you can cover your travel, insurance, visa and personal expenses.
