This horse sanctuary in Castilla y León, Spain, rescues abandoned and abused horses and gives them a safe, more natural life.
Volunteers help with daily horse care, cleaning stables and fields, and basic support for the animals’ health and wellbeing. The work is physical and the schedule is full time, about 8 hours of help per day for 6 days per week, so it suits people who are fit and ready for a strong routine. In exchange, volunteers receive free accommodation in shared rooms or a couple’s room and vegan or vegetarian home cooked meals. There are no volunteer participation fees. Volunteers can practise Spanish, learn more about horse behaviour and spend their free time surrounded by nature and animals. The sanctuary is still active, but conditions may change, so anyone interested should contact the hosts directly through their website or WhatsApp for updated details.
