Intern and volunteer opportunities in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest
If you are looking for true hands-on experience in the Amazon rainforest, Fauna Forever is recruiting interns and volunteers for its conservation projects in Peru. There is a participation fee, which covers your food, lodging and field logistics; once you arrive, the Fauna Forever team takes care of everything so you can focus on the work.
Fauna Forever is a non-profit organisation with more than 20 years of experience in wildlife research and nature conservation in Peru. The team leads wildlife monitoring, community development and environmental visual communication (EVC) projects in the lowland Amazon rainforest and Andean ecosystems. Mission
Fauna Forever is committed to researching and protecting Peru’s rainforests and the communities that depend on them. Volunteers and interns join conservation projects on the front line of Amazon protection while learning practical field skills.
Location
Projects are based mainly in the regions of Cusco, Madre de Dios and Puno in south-eastern Peru.
Field teams and focus areas
Depending on your background and interests, you may assist one or more of these teams:
- Bat team
- Herpetology team (reptiles and amphibians)
- Bird team
- Invertebrate team
- Botany and forest science team
- Mammal and primate teams
- Raptor team
- Environmental visual communication (EVC) team
- Community and environmental education team
Volunteer and intern benefits
