Stagones is a former informal group of young people trying to โ€œlive lightly and meaningfully on earthโ€ and we recently became a social cooperative. We are four families with small kids living in a natural environment on Evia Island.

Our aims include the promotion of:

In doing so our main areas of activity are:
  1. Natural and Organic farming: We cultivate as much of our food and we also cultivate vegetables and pomegranates professionally to sell to the local and wider market, reallocating the amounts earned for the scope of our organization as is described also in our statute.
  2. Natural Building: We design and construct eco-friendly, handmade buildings and smaller-scale constructions such as earth ovens, benches, fireplaces, kiosks etc. In addition, we run Natural Building workshops for people who wish to learn through practical experience
  3. Cultural and creative interchange through the organization of small-scale projects with the involvement of the local community and also the organization of small-scale art festivals
  4. Transformation of educational systems towards democratic education. We organize Agile Learning workshops and informational days in order to promote and discuss democratic education

In all of our activities, the participants learn using non-formal educational methods mainly experiential education (learning by doing).

Since activities and world-views are interrelated, we approach aspects of everyday living in a holistic way.

Location

Greece | Kirinthos, Evia Island

For non-ESC volunteers:

The volunteers participate in our daily activities, which often change depending on what is happening that specific period of the year.

We offer food and space to set up tents and of course our experiences and our knowledge. Volunteers participate for five hours in the daily activities and there is a trial period of three days then we discuss the possible extension of the stay.

In case you are interested in volunteering, please contact us at least one month in advance by e-mail at info(at)stagones(dot)org.
