Join our organic farm and eco-building school in Thailand

‘Baan Din Doi’ is a learning centre & eco-building school which promotes natural building techniques mainly utilizing earth, straw, timber and bamboo. We wish to inspire people to attain a more simple, self-reliant and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

Located in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, we provide short workshops and training courses in English and French. Volun-tourists are welcome to join us in developing the project and cultivating our organic garden.

What does Baan Din Doi means?

Baan Din Doi” translates naturally to “Earth House on the Hill” or “Clay House on the Mountain.”

This phrase is often used in Thailand to describe a home built from natural materials like clay, typically situated in hilly or mountainous areas. It evokes a sense of living close to nature and embracing a sustainable lifestyle.

The mission of our community

We are a learning centre which promotes natural building techniques mainly utilizing earth, straw, timber and bamboo. Our goal is to inspire people to attain a more simple, self-reliant and environmentally friendly lifestyle. We need volunteers to make some natural buildings and help with gardening (planting, compost making).

General info

Our place gathers people from various countries and cultures, including Asians (Thai etc), which gives the chance for people to share their views, and inspirations when they work or during lunch/dinner time.

In addition, we are a centre promoting self-sufficiency, a natural and simple lifestyle. So, this creates a lot of discussions on these topics, as more and more people, especially the youth want to escape from a normal life based on working for money, consuming, and ignoring their own and more important needs.

Volunteers Benefits

Our place is a learning centre, so they can learn a lot about natural building techniques, suitable for the tropical climate and other climates. The discussion and exchanges can make them change ideas, views on several topics, and maybe change their lifestyle and inspire others.

What to do in your free time

Volunteers are free to walk around the farm in the field and in nature. There are several tree plantations and rice paddies. We are also close to a Meditation Center and tourist spots if you want to visit after volunteering with us.
