General description
This is a unique volunteering project, we are going to start to develop our semi-urban and rural areas. The project includes general maintenance, a lot of interactions, teaching and staying at a remote place. Please read the details below and connect only if it is relevant to you. We are a local family in the city of Kolkata. After running a tourist lodge, under the govt of India registration, for the last 3yrs, we have started a budget hostel and planning to serve our society too.
The project is divided into 2 separate parts. 1st part is all about teaching kids at an NGO on the outskirts of the city. While the 2nd part is about staying with us in the city and helping us in managing the hospitality service.
NGO – Teaching kids
You will be welcomed and accepted by us as our family members. You will be given a place to sleep in our hostel room and will be served homemade food. We would love to engage with you and have interactions about various things so that we know each other a little better by now. This is only for 3days, during which we will brief you about the NGO, their goals, the teaching program and the scenic beauty you will experience for the next 15days.
You will then go to this NGO to teach kids, this is in the outskirts of Kolkata. Where again, you will be given a separate room, authentic food and guidance to explore the magnificent nature, by the NGO’s faculty. In return, you will be teaching, managing kids of this institution, through various activities with dedication. These kids are poor and underprivileged, your participation in bringing their morale, confidence high would be absolutely instrumental for their future and appreciated a lot by others.
Helping at the hostel
You will come back to the city, in the hostel where you had stayed for the first 3 days. Needless to mention that, your stay and food will be all covered. You will now get the chance to explore the “The City of Joy” and “The Cultural Capital of India”, Kolkata.
In return for your help of working closely with us as friends in managing our tourists, helping in room decoration, group activities or just general cleaning and help in the household.
We will be ecstatic to share our time, story and laughter with you throughout. Hopefully and most importantly, both of us will be able to create a lifelong memory beyond just a host and travellers.

Note about the volunteer work and other expectations
Our volunteers would be our friends, we would love to share laughter and movie time with them. However, we expect that they would take the volunteer task seriously. And not take the opportunity as a free trip.

What to do in the free time
In your free time- You will have the opportunity to explore some wonderful scenic beauty, be close to nature, explore the core culture and values of the society, enjoy the touristic sightseeing in Kolkata (Calcutta). There will be no moment whatsoever when you will not have our accompany, whenever you need so!

Geography
Our house is at a semi-urban location in the city of Kolkata. The surrounding is a nice and pleasant residential society. We are the only family-accommodating foreign guests here, so all the locals are always curious to meet different nationals. However the downtown area is just a few mints away, but you will never hear the bustling sound from here.
The NGO you will volunteer at is in the outskirts district of our state. The surrounding their is absolutely amazing. Mountains for trekking, green fields and nature for a walk, lakes to chill at, cultural programs to attend, the place is a favourite out station escapade for locals.
How to get to your site
By aeroplane come to the famous Kolkata airport.
From there, take an UBER to our address. Use C9XF+27 Boral, Banerjee para, Kolkata 700154 as your drop point. This is the easiest. Charges could be around (6dollars/5euros)
