Our Mission
Ours is a self-sustainable traveller’s community. It started as a dream to have a place in Varanasi, for travellers, created by travellers, self-sustaining, and basically an island of bliss in this ocean of a city. Located at a beautiful building in a safe and quiet neighbourhood of the city, a little distance from the river but closer to the airport and railway stations, we are trying to build something amazing out of a dilapidated old building.
With a few long term residents, and travellers coming and going all the time, the place oscillates between feeling like a busy travel junction and a communal home. The community operated kitchen feeds 10-20 mouths every day while maintaining and upgrading the building all the while.
Our focus is on creating a creative conscious hub in Varanasi made up of artists, musicians, travellers and adventurers.
We currently have a home-stay with private guest rooms on the ground and first floor which act as a source of revenue for the community. However, as the community becomes more self-sufficient we intend to convert the guest rooms into something meaningful.
We’d love to host and connect with like-minded people and travellers who’d want to be a part of, or help shape, this effort and help take it towards its aim.

General info
The community is located in Varanasi, the spiritual epicentre of India. You will get to meet, learn and share with people from all around the world. The voluntourist would get to live in a non-touristic part of Varanasi and get to experience typical Indian day-to-day life. We usually tend to have 4-8 volunteers at a time from around the world, it’s a great place to share your culture, skills and knowledge.
We all cook together and you will get the opportunity to learn to cook and taste cuisines from around the world. Also, we have a small kitchen garden which is attached to the property and you can learn basic organic farming.

Work expectations
We need help in the running and managing of our community and homestay.
There is a wide range of tasks to be performed depending upon your skill level and experience. The work may vary from
- setting up the rooms to paint the walls,
- organic gardening,
- handling the online activity
- help in the kitchen either with cooking, chopping vegetables or doing the dishes and setting up the kitchen.
Please write to us with the skills you can offer and which will add value to our place then we are happy to provide free food and accommodation.
If you are just looking for a good vibe and you want to enjoy it most of the time then rather stay as a guest. I believe in exchanging and helping each other and growing together. If you are just looking for a free place and free food then this is not at all the right place for you. I don’t promote freeloaders. Rather stay as a community member and pay for your food and accommodation. We are open to hosting everyone, so feel free to write to us and then we can discuss more expectations from each other.

What to do in the free time
In your time off you can visit around the city, holy temples, Buddhists place Sarnath or just chill at the community with other travellers and you can jam with them playing music or just reading a book. We also have a very high-speed internet WiFi connection actually the best in India suitable for digital nomads.

Environment – A Peaceful Hideaway
Ganges Nirvana is located away from the often chaotic and busy streets of Varanasi in a peaceful neighbourhood. We can provide you with a quiet oasis to return to after a day by the river and always a restful, safe nights sleep. Here you will find time to breathe and a place to go deeper into yourself. You can easily reach the Ganges and other tourist attractions by public transport. We have safe street parking in a nice residential neighbourhood with wide roads.
Manduadih train station is only 300 metres away from where you can find trains to Delhi, Pune, Chennai and other major cities.
