Join a Wildlife Sanctuary adventure in Bolivia: make a difference with Hands-On conservation work

If you’ve ever dreamed of working closely with exotic wildlife and making a real impact, this opportunity in Bolivia might be just what you’re looking for. Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY), a Bolivian charity dedicated to rescuing animals affected by illegal activities, is offering a series of volunteer positions for wildlife enthusiasts who want to contribute to animal welfare in a meaningful way.

Located in the lush wilderness of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, CIWY’s sanctuaries provide a safe haven for animals, and they’re currently looking to fill several exciting roles. These positions include administrator roles as well as coordinator positions focused on different wildlife species like howler monkeys and birds. Each role comes with accommodation, meals, and in some cases, a stipend.

About CIWY Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi

Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY) is a Bolivian non-profit organization founded in 1992, dedicated to wildlife conservation and the fight against illegal animal trafficking.

It manages three wildlife sanctuaries—Machía, Ambue Ari, and Jacj Cuisi—where rescued animals are given care, rehabilitation, and a more natural living environment. Volunteers help with tasks like feeding, caring for animals, and creating enrichment activities. CIWY also works with local and international authorities, runs environmental education programs, and promotes conservation values to support Bolivia’s biodiversity and foster respect for nature

Positions Available:
Sanctuary Administrator (Ambue Ari)
Howler Monkey Coordinator (Ambue Ari)
Bird Coordinator (Sanctuary Machía)
Why Volunteer with CIWY?

CIWY is a community of people passionate about animal welfare and conservation.

The sanctuary offers an immersive experience in Bolivia’s incredible ecosystems, where you’ll work side by side with international and local team members. Volunteers get hands-on experience with rescued animals and contribute directly to their rehabilitation and care, making a significant difference in their lives.

If you’re looking to kickstart a career in wildlife conservation, gain work and volunteer experience, or simply take a break from the ordinary while making an impact, these volunteer roles are a fantastic way to give back while discovering the beauty and biodiversity of Bolivia.
