Langkawi Animal Shelter and Sanctuary Foundation (LASSie) in Malaysia, currently houses neglected, abused and needy animals. We no longer run the trap, neuter and release programme and hence shifting our focus on the well being of our residents.
You can help us by volunteering in your free time, walking dogs, spending time with the cats, adopting your pets from us, donating toys, treats, medicine, building materials, food, and money.

We are aided and supported by the beautiful Bon Ton and Temple Tree resorts with whom we are neighbours, as well as China House which brings food, arts and culture together in Penang.

Volunteersโ€™ benefits

Malaysia is a multicultural country with great opportunities to meet and to interact with people of various backgrounds, creeds and walks of life. The way animal shelters are run here might differ a bit from other shelters in the region and you will be learning a lot about the great things that can be done to make our furry friendsโ€™ lives better, but also about the limitations that we face every day in our actions.
The premises need to be maintained and cleaned, and sometimes even decorated, so you can help us to make our shelter as welcoming as possible.

What to do in your free time

Langkawi is a large island off the northeastern coast of Malaysia, three hours away from Penang by ferry and not very far from Thailand waters. There is a holiday feel to the island as this is one of Malaysiaโ€™s premier tourist destinations. Our shelter happens to be just ten minutes away from the most touristy beach on the island, Pantai Cenang. There are many tour operators offering watersports activities, nature tours, and even ziplining. You can easily rent a car or motorbike during your off days to venture around the island. You can be sure that youโ€™ll get to enjoy the relaxed ambience of the place.
