Soil, soul & simplicity: volunteering at Ecovillage Bhrugu Aranya

Get Your Hands Dirty, Heal the Earth

Tucked away in the quiet hills of southern Poland, far from the rush and noise of modern life, there’s a place where the earth is sacred, the food is clean, and people live in harmony with nature. It’s called Ecovillage Bhrugu Aranya, and it’s an eco-community, a living example of how we can rebuild our relationship with the land.

And here’s the good news: they’re looking for volunteers.

🌿 What Exactly Is Ecovillage Bhrugu Aranya?

Ecovillage Bhrugu Aranya is a sustainable, off-grid community in the countryside of southern Poland. It’s more than just an eco-farm or a retreat center—it’s a living community where people live according to principles of ecological responsibility, spiritual growth, and harmony with nature.

Here’s what defines it:

🏡 It’s an Ecovillage

That means:

Waste is composted, water is conserved, and life is lived simply

🔥 It’s a Fire Temple and healing Space

Bhrugu Aranya is also a center for Agnihotra, an ancient Vedic fire healing practice. This fire ceremony is performed daily by the community and is said to purify the atmosphere and promote inner peace and balance.

💚 It’s a Permaculture Farm
🌎 It’s an International Community

People from all over the world visit or volunteer here. Some stay for weeks, some for years. It’s a place where spiritual seekers, eco-builders, herbalists, musicians, artists, and gardeners come together to live consciously and build a better future—one seed at a time.

If you’re drawn to slow living, sacred fire, and sustainability, Ecovillage Bhrugu Aranya might be more than a visit—it could be a new chapter.

✋ What’s it all about?

From April to October, Ecovillage Bhrugu Aranya opens its doors to people from around the world who want to connect with the earth, learn by doing, and live simply / together. Volunteers help with daily life on the land: working in the gardens, helping build natural structures, preparing organic meals, and even learning ancient fire-based healing practices like Agnihotra.

You won’t be sitting behind a desk here.

You’ll be planting, harvesting, cooking, learning, and living in rhythm with the natural world.

🛏️ What do you get?

Though it is not a luxury retreat, it’s real, raw, and rewarding.

💪 Who are they Looking For?

The ecovillage is looking for folks who are:

  1. Physically able and willing to work outdoors
  2. Respectful of nature and intentional community living
  3. Open to alternative lifestyles and holistic practices

Bonus points if you have skills in gardening, carpentry, building, or even language translation.

🌎 Why It matters

At a time when the planet is hurting, projects like this one are tiny lifeboats of hope. They’re teaching us how to live with less, give more, and relearn what it means to be human—not as consumers, but as caretakers of the Earth.

Volunteering at Bhrugu Aranya about helping them but also transforming yourself.
