Gasah Greek and Swiss Animal Help (GASAH) is a dedicated animal welfare organization significantly impacting the beautiful island of Kos, Greece.
As of January 3, 2025, GASAH has published an urgent call for volunteers on our Facebook group. They are in immediate need of compassionate individuals to support their mission.
Volunteer at GASAH and Make a Difference
The animal shelter is located on the picturesque island of Kos, famous for its stunning beaches, historical charm, and welcoming community. The typical minimum stay for volunteers is four weeks; however, due to urgent need, GASAH is happy to make exceptions and welcome any type of support—especially this January.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers at GASAH contribute to a variety of tasks, including:
- Animal care
- Feeding, grooming, and ensuring the well-being of animals at the shelter (including cats, dogs, sheep, goats, and chickens).
- Off-site rescues
- Assisting experienced caretakers with catching and rescuing injured or sick animals and helping with the sterilization project for stray cats.
- Kennel maintenance
- cleaning the kennels and surrounding areas to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
- Dog Walking
- providing exercise and enrichment for the shelter’s dogs through daily walks.
Volunteer benefits

We are urgently looking for volunteers with immediate effect 🙏🐾
We have an animal shelter on the island of Kos in Greece. Normally the minimum stay would be 4 weeks, but as we are urgently looking for volunteers, we are happy for any support, especially now in January.
Everyday work includes:
Caring for the animals on site (cats, dogs, sheep, goats, chickens, etc.)
Offsite work, such as catching injured or sick animals or catching cats for the sterilisation project (together with an experienced carer)
Cleaning the kennels / kennel area
Walking dogs
Accommodation and food is included when volunteering with us!
