Editorial safeguarding note from Voluntouring.org: This organisation works with children who may have experienced separation, instability or other difficult circumstances. Short-term or casual contact with children in residential care can be harmful, even when volunteers have good intentions. A placement should not be treated as an opportunity for unsupervised visits, temporary caregiving or personal bonding with children.
Where appropriate, consider roles that support the organisation without direct contact with children. Any child-facing role should require suitable screening, preparation, clear boundaries and supervision by responsible, qualified local staff.

What’s the mission of your community? 🎯
We aim to provide a home for orphans and destitute children, a place filled with love, care, and compassion. Our goal is to empower them to become competent, confident, and self-reliant in life.

About the volunteer work and other expectations 📝
Volunteers can expect a welcoming work environment, access to necessary resources and tools, proper training and support, flexibility in scheduling, and consistent communication.
Before applying: child safeguarding checks 🔍
Before agreeing to a placement involving children, ask the host to clarify the following points in writing:
- What written child safeguarding policy, code of conduct and concerns-reporting procedure apply to all volunteers?
- What identity, reference and background checks are required before any contact with children?
- What specific tasks, qualifications, minimum commitment and orientation are expected? Who supervises the work on site?
- How are one-to-one contact, children’s private spaces, photography, social media and communication outside the placement restricted?
- What arrangements apply to volunteers under 18, including parental or guardian consent and age-appropriate supervision?
- Where relevant, can the organisation confirm the current registration and authorisation of the child care institution concerned?
Volunteers should not replace permanent caregivers or qualified medical, educational or counselling staff. If these safeguards cannot be explained clearly, do not proceed with a child-facing placement.

Nutrition is all about making healthy eating choices. It’s essential to select foods and drinks that provide the right energy and nutrients daily. This encompasses proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water.
Fee transparency 🆓🔍
Volunteers can opt for a pickup by our organization for a fee of approximately 5000Rs, or they can arrange their own transportation.

Visa note for international volunteers: An invitation letter from a host does not establish that a particular visa covers the proposed activities.
