Join an Eco-village in Thailand
Gaarawe Eco-village is located in Khao Sok, Thailand. It is a not-for-profit village. Everything that we make and do is invested back into the project. That’s why we can’t offer free food and training to all who visit us (we distinguish between qualified and trainee volunteers). If you have one of the skills we need (or have a skill you think we need) Gaarawe will invest in you, if you invest in us!
Updated October 2022 – This project aims to create a community based on the economy of sufficiency, which is able to produce food and basic necessities both for internal consumption and to offer hospitality to visitors. The community will operate in harmony between living beings and the surrounding environment. The community will live online, both in a virtual sense as a network for exchanging information and contacts and in a real sense, creating human and commercial exchange relationships, with the partnership to live in a place where “The meaning of life” is based on empathy and on the Man-Nature symbiosis.
To try to project oneself out of the chaos of places destroyed by concrete and battered by the economic and social system of globalized capitalism, it is necessary to pursue a culture of sharing and promote a society made up of “Duties before rights”, of empathy and respect for brother man and for Mother Earth.
Our offer:
For Travel Experiences. Work from 8:00 to 10:00: * June and Julay *
- Two Week – Trainee Volunteers
- June and Julay * General Mantenainces
- Two hours a day per six day a week, the rest is free time to visit the surroundings.
We provide:
- Free dorm included in a private bamboo hut
- Free fast internet
- Free laundry
- Free tour in the forest with a local guide
- First day, welcome and free dinner.
During your stay we organize a special dinner, you are our welcome free guest.
Can follow the manager and learn permaculture.
Families are welcome
We provide free food and accommodation in a private room for the duration of the project.
Qualified volunteers
- We provide free food and accommodation in a private room for all the duration of the project.
We are looking at qualified skills:
- Plumber qualified
- Bricklayer qualified
- Manager able to sell events:
- Permaculture, Yoga, meditation, etc… And packages.

Qualified Volunteers – program
Gaarawé has been built by thousands of volunteers, but there are some skills in particular that we need at this time in the village’s growth:
- Carpenter (experience with bamboo preferred)
- Native Thai speaker
- Builder (experience with bamboo and/or clay construction preferred)
- Expert in water filtration systems (potable and/or greywater)
- Motorbike Mechanic
What we ask:
- Qualified, experienced volunteer (no apprentices)
- Assistance in gathering the necessary resources
- Time commitment for the duration of the project
- Compliance with immigration to get the right visa
What we give:
- A bed in the dormitory or a hut if available
- Sheets, blankets, pillows
- Mosquito net
- Highspeed wifi and electricity
- Full access to training and facilities
- Free laundry
- Three meals per day*
- Assistance with visa applications (possibly financial aid).

Trainee Volunteers – program
The voluntourism industry has changed the way that volunteers think, and their expectations. If you haven’t worked on a permaculture project for at least 1 month then you will need guidance and training before you can make a real contribution to the village. We cover why we ask some volunteers to contribute financially in our FAQS (see contact details below).
What we give:
- Three meals per day*
- Training in whatever task the garden needs
- Sheets, blankets, pillows
- Mosquito net
- Highspeed wifi and electricity
- Full access to training and facilities
- Free laundry
What we ask (only for the trainee volunteers)
- 1 week: 3,500ThB per person, 6,000ThB per couple – (Approx. $110 per person, $190 per couple)
- 1 month: 9,000ThB per person, 16,000ThB per couple – (Approx. $280 per person, $500 per couple)
- 3 months: 21,000ThB per person, 35,000ThB per couple – (Approx. $660 per person, $1,100 per couple)
*Our chef is Thai, so much of our food is what she would make for her family. Vegan/vegetarian options are available, and we use mostly organic products from our garden or local sources. Let us know when you arrive if you have dietary requirements.
