Cyrenians is looking for Residential Peer Mentors
Cyrenians association is looking for Residential Peer Mentors aged 16-30 for 6-9 months placements in Edinburgh, Scotland.
A great opportunity for those who may be interested in working with underprivileged groups or in social care in the future.
The two Communities (Farm and City) have up to eight residents each, who are aged 16-30 and come to live in the communities as a result of being homeless.
Mission
The Communities support the residents to develop their confidence, skills and abilities in order to begin to live independently and, eventually, to move to a more sustainable living environment away from personal crisis.
Peer Mentors live alongside the residents in the communities and together manage day-to-day domestic tasks and decisions. The role is one of modelling positive behaviour rather than supervision, helping the residents to gain confidence and together maintaining a friendly and supportive community to live in.
Accommodation, food, weekly allowance and holiday money are provided along with training, support and the opportunity to take part in activities.
