Community Farm exchange in Costa Rica – Volunteer at the Jungle Temple!

Costa Rica volunteer retreat – Good day! My name is Tobin and I recently moved into a property The Jungle Temple in Costa Rica.
The property is full of fresh organic fruit, vegetables and herbs. It also has a relaxing pool, tennis court, sauna, multiple living spaces, and access to local natural wonders such as waterfalls, the pacific coast and its beaches, a nearby swimmable river with Jurassic Park-esque views.

I need help growing and harvesting the foods and medicines, as well as propagating the fruit trees to sell at our Vivero (nursery).

I would also appreciate help in areas such as food storage, product creation, property maintenance, construction, content creation and online marketing growth.

What type of host are you?

Private/Individual/family

What are you looking for help with?
What’s the mission of your community?

To enlighten and empower. With the capacity to offer real-life education and hands-on experience, the property and space of The Jungle Temple itself is the living mission. Providing abundant variants of fruits and medicinal herbs, I inherited a treasure chest of nutritional magic. I have since cleaned most of the property and allowed the existing edibles to flourish, as they were left unattended prior to my moving here. Now, I have planted a quickly growing vegetable and herb garden and discovered many more species on the property than expected. The Jungle Temple needs your help, in order to help our community, and endlessly beyond.

How many volunteers could you host?

More than two

When would you need volunteers?

All year long

How many hours of help per day?

4-5 hours of help per day

How many days of help per week?

4 days of help per week – 3 days off

Are accommodation and food included?

Yes, we offer food and accommodation

What type of accommodation can you provide?
Diet – nutrition information

The property grows Yuca, Plantain, Coconut, Caimito, Mango, Spinach, Arugula, Orégano, Basil, Coffee, Water Apples, Cacao, Avocado, Tomato, Golden Berry, Turmeric, Cucumber, Cuban Oranges, Lemons, Limes, and more. We have access to farm-fresh eggs daily from my next-door neighbour. Local farmers also offer other products and there is a small supermarket within walking distance. Several others a short drive from the property. The town of Parrita has nearly everything you could need. Dozens of restaurants.

Fees transparency

I would accept donations if you wish to help our facilities grow and improve. The economic contribution is not mandatory but greatly appreciated.

VISA – could you provide Visa support/info/invitation letters?

No! we cannot help with Visa/invitation letters – similar requests will be ignored.

Volunteers’ benefits:

Product development partnership potential. Cultural exchange (this is a traditional Tico town, fully Spanish speaking and my property is surrounded by cowboys and farmers). Fitness and wellness opportunities; property has an outdoor gym, pool, sauna, sports court.
What to do in the free time
A famous set of waterfalls, Tres Piscinas or Las Pilas are only 5km away. Playa Hermosa, Jaco, Manuel Antonio are all within an hour drive. Hiking, mountain biking, river swimming, and exploring possibilities surround us.

Language

English or Spanish

Geography

Tropical farmland near a large river at the base of a large, jungle mountain range. Directly surrounded by the foothills, our property has a steady breeze all day but gets very warm in the afternoons. Thankfully the property has a lot of tree growth for shade and the housing structures stay cool with fans. Beautiful birds in large flocks fly into and over the property all day, dozens of macaws, toucans, and other rare tropical fauna can be found hanging on our 500+-year-old Guanacaste tree.

How to get to your site

Aeroplane to San José airport. Taxi or Uber to the property address.

Is there internet access?

Yes, but not very strong.

“Paying guests” Option. Could you accommodate “solidarity” tourists?

Yes, we can accommodate eco/responsible tourists & paying guests
