We are looking for a motivated crew
Looking for a crew! Ahoy – We are a co-op ship and we’re open again for applications for our 2020/21 trip. We are currently in Madagascar. We’ll start around March/April to explore the western Indian Ocean, Madagascar, Mayotte, Comores, Tanzania, Kenya and Seychelles. The general idea at this stage is to spend most of the year 2020 in the area before rounding the Cape of Good Hope in late 2020 and continue on into the Atlantic for 2021.
We do not have a set schedule nor a set itinerary, what we have is a nice ship to share and a beautiful area of the world to explore.
Sailing crew – Conditions
Anyone interested should have a good long look at our website, where we’ve posted most of the relevant info, including the application process and our email address (see contact details below).
What type of host are you?
What are you looking for help with?
What’s the mission of your community?
We’re a sailing ship co-op. The crew is usually composed of a healthy mix of nomadic wanderers and non-conforming individuals but anybody is welcome, regardless of nationality, age, gender, worldview, background, or financial status. Attitude is what matters. This is more than just a cheap sailing opportunity, this is a chance to experience what being a feral sea gipsy on a nice ship is all about.
In an effort to share, learn and grow, we are looking for a crew and accept anybody motivated to join with an open mind, a willingness to become part of the team and a deep craving for this lifestyle. The boat is operated as a non-profit cooperative. We run on limited funds from crew contribution.
How many volunteers could you host?
More than two
When would you need volunteers?
Year-long, depending on the trips.
How many hours and days of help per day?
Others (please see in the general info section).
Note about the volunteer work and other expectations
This is not a work exchange offer per se, there is little actual work involved. We require all to:
- help run the ship,
- keep it reasonably clean and in decent shape,
- but mostly to enjoy themselves.
Please refer to our website for more details (see contact details section below, not the comment section).
Are accommodation and food included?
Yes, but a contribution fee is required.
What type of accommodation can you provide?
Boat accommodation
Diet – nutrition information
We eat a lot of seafood we catch ourselves, we avoid taking vegans and vegetarians who would be excluded from the common meals.
Crew fees – transparency
As a member of an egalitarian cooperative, every crew member sailing onboard the ship needs to contribute.
VISA – could you provide Visa support/info/invitation letters?
No, we cannot help with Visa but we can offer assistance
Looking for a crew: benefits
Ah! The crew benefits in so many ways I’m not even sure where to start… This is about exploring nice parts of the world on a cool sailboat with a bunch of like-minded people, in a non-commercial way. It’s an amazing experience and there is a lot to do and learn… Please check our website for more info on the whole thing.
