- A coffee shop
- Five hostel dorm rooms
- An art studio
- Community lounge
Because House of Urnebes aims to promote cross-cultural collaboration in the arts, we wanted to build this idea into the foundation of the space. So, for this project, we are inviting volunteers from around the world to come to help complete the transformation of an empty house into a safe haven for artists (rather than just hiring a contractor).
Participant benefits
- Free accommodations for the duration of the project
- Cash stipend for food
- Budget to bring your interior design ideas to life
- Opportunity to explore Smederevo and other parts of Serbia
- Down time to relax or work on your own creative projects
The ideal participants for this project are creative and adventurous souls who have an eye for design and can see the potential in empty spaces (a professional background in design, carpentry or handiwork is NOT required). We welcome applicants from Serbia, across the Balkans, and all over the world!

House of Urnebes
House of Urnebes (HoU) is an organization that aims to promote intercultural communication and collaboration between artists with distinct artistic perspectives. Our goal is to create an atmosphere that celebrates diversity and creative expression. Hous of Urnebes will combine a hostel, music and art studio, and cafe into a space where artists can come to find inspiration, create and collaborate. HoU is fueled by the idea that the best art is created through collaboration and diverse inspiration, so we wanted to ensure this belief was built into the foundation of the project. By hosting an Interior Design Colony, instead of hiring an agency, we can promote cross-cultural collaboration and creativity within the fields of interior design and construction.
National Peace Corps Association
National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) is a mission-driven social impact organization that encourages and celebrates the lifelong commitment to Peace Corps ideals. NPCA supports a united and vibrant Peace Corps community, including current and returned Peace Corps volunteers, current and former staff, host country nationals, family and friends in our efforts to create a better world. N PCA exists to fulfil three specific goals:
- 1. Help the Peace Corps be the best it can be
- 2. Empower members and affiliate groups to thrive
- 3. Amplify the Peace Corps community’s global social impact
