Istanbul Expat Community is a social responsibility project that has been active since October 2017. It is a volunteer-based initiative that supports foreigners living in Istanbul with social and business networking, legal and practical information, and media projects. The team is made up of around 30 volunteers working in fields such as videography, graphic design, web design, news editing, blogging, vlogging, language support and PR. The community reaches thousands of members and followers who benefit from useful information and articles that the volunteers share.

This volunteering role is only for people who already live in Istanbul.
The Istanbul Expat Community does not provide accommodation, meals, visas or travel support.
Volunteers join as local community members who want to expand their social and business network, meet international people and build their portfolio through the community projects.
Activities
The team prepares and shares content on its social media channels about events that may interest expats in Istanbul. These can include exhibitions, museum visits, concerts, theatre plays, shows, movie screenings and many other activities organised by institutions, municipalities and consulates.
The community also works on filming projects, with the aim of creating simple, friendly and informative videos for foreigners and locals in Istanbul.
Volunteer role and expectations
This volunteer opportunity focuses mainly on media and communication tasks. Volunteers help with filming, editing and producing content, and can also support the wider communication work of the community.
Please apply if you:
- Are familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightworks, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro X or After Effects
- Own a DSLR or mirrorless camera and microphone
- Are willing to commit as a volunteer for at least 3 months
- Feel responsible for society and want to make a positive contribution
- Want to meet many international and local people
- Hope to expand your social and business network in Istanbul
Schedule and exact workload are flexible and should be agreed directly with the organisers. This is a city-based volunteering opportunity, not a work-exchange with accommodation.
