Autostop House in Shkodër, Albania
Autostop House is scheduled to welcome travellers in Shkodër, Albania, from 1 July to 31 August 2026. Organised by the Polish Hitchhikers Association, the temporary house offers hitchhikers a place to rest, meet other travellers and exchange experiences.
Stays are normally free, although donations towards rent and everyday costs are appreciated. Registration and respect for the house rules are required, and the exact address is kept private. Anyone interested should contact the project through its official channels before travelling to Shkodër.

A provisional post-Hitchgathering near the Pyrenees
A second or post-Hitchgathering is provisionally listed for approximately 8 to 29 August 2026. The suggested area is northeastern Spain and/or the French Pyrenees, but the exact location has not yet been confirmed.
This is an informal community gathering rather than an event with a fixed public venue. Travellers should not set out on the basis of the date range alone. Check the latest location and access information through the Hitchwiki news and events page and the community channels linked there.
Road Academy in Turkey
Road Academy 2026, organised by The Travel Club, is scheduled in Turkey from 21 to 29 August. The nine-day journey begins in Istanbul, where participants are divided into groups of three, normally combining one experienced hitchhiker with two beginners. Groups travel independently between destinations and are rearranged during the programme.
The event is limited to 15 people. A €50 payment is required to reserve a confirmed place, while participants cover their own journey to Istanbul, food and accommodation. The organisers estimate hostel dormitories at around €15 per night and invite people who cannot afford the participation payment to contact them. Applications require a short self-introduction video and are accepted only while places remain.

Tramprennen 2026 heads to Romania
The 17th edition of Tramprennen is scheduled from 21 August to 5 September 2026. Teams leave from Lüneburg or Weiden in der Oberpfalz in Germany and travel towards Pui, Romania. The event combines six hitchhiking stages with rest and buffer days, while the detailed routes and intermediate waypoints remain secret until the start.
Tramprennen is organised by Club of Roam, Autostop! e.V. and includes fundraising for ROSA e.V., an organisation that provides gender-sensitive humanitarian support and mobile safe spaces for women on the move.
Editorial note: Hitchwiki’s newsletter of 8 August stated that people could still sign up. The official Tramprennen event page, however, lists the ordinary registration period as 1 June to 31 July, although the team registration interface remains accessible. Prospective participants should ask the organiser whether late registration is still possible before making travel arrangements.

Before joining a hitchhiking event
Dates, meeting places, routes and available places can change quickly when events are coordinated by volunteers. Confirm the exact location, participation requirements, costs and cancellation arrangements directly with the organiser.
