Hostel volunteer exchange in Croatia – Dragan’s Den, Korčula
Our backpackers’ hostel on the island of Korčula, Croatia, welcomes volunteers from May to October. The hostel is in a convenient location about 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from Korčula Town and close to sandy beaches. It combines a friendly social atmosphere with a quiet residential setting where you can relax by the pool between shifts. There is also a sister hostel project at Plitvice Lakes.

The hostel is currently looking for short term volunteers and, in some seasons, experienced helpers for longer stays. There may also be paid cleaning or housekeeping positions for long term team members. Please confirm current options directly with the hostel when you write.
What help is needed?
The main tasks are cleaning and front desk or office duties, plus occasional small maintenance and promotion tasks.
Depending on your skills, you might help with:
- Housekeeping and cleaning
- Reception, administration and helping guests
- Computer and web updates
- Marketing and social media
- Writing and text editing
- General help around the hostel
About the hostel
Dragan’s Den is a relaxed, social hostel on one of the most beautiful islands on the Adriatic. The property has a small pool, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, common rooms and two fully equipped kitchens. It is designed as a “luxury backpacking retreat” where safety and security are a priority. You will meet travellers from all over the world, so you do not need a travel buddy to enjoy Korčula.
Accommodation for volunteers
Volunteers stay in dormitory or shared rooms at the hostel. There is access to the shared kitchens, lounge areas, terrace and pool. Bedding and basic utilities are included.
How many volunteers can you host?
- Usually around 2 volunteers at a time.
When do you need volunteers?
From May to October, with more help needed in the high season.
Hours and days of help
The standard arrangement is about 5 hours of help per day, 6 days per week (around 30 hours in total), usually with one full day off. Exact schedules can change with the season and are agreed on arrival.
Fees and benefits
Do you charge volunteers a daily or weekly fee?
No volunteer fee.
The hostel offers free accommodation in exchange for help, but food is self catering.
Things to do in your free time
On days off, you can explore Korčula Town, nearby beaches and coastal paths, or visit the sister hostel project at Plitvice Lakes National Park on your way between Zagreb, Split or Dubrovnik. At Dragan’s Den you can join beach trips and nightlife:
- Korčula beach crawl – afternoon visits to several beaches, often with cliff jumping
- Dragan’s Den pub crawl – discover Korčula’s bars and nightlife with other guests
Visa
The hostel cannot pay for travel costs or provide official invitation letters. Messages asking for this will not be answered.
