Rescue horse exchange in southern Spain
Rescue horse exchange β Riding Fun In The Sun is an association that rescues horses and supports them through guided treks for visitors in the beautiful Andalusian countryside. Volunteers help with the horses and daily tasks and in return enjoy free food, accommodation and regular riding in stunning mountain landscapes near Casares, San Luis de Sabinillas and GaucΓn on the Costa del Sol.

The project focuses on rescuing and maintaining horses and giving them a safe, active life. Income from horse trekking with visitors helps to fund their care. Volunteers become part of a small rural team and experience an off-grid, country lifestyle.
Volunteer tasks and expectations
Volunteers help mainly with the horses and the daily running of the stables. The work is practical and outdoors, so it suits people who like animals, nature and physical tasks.
- Basic horse care: feeding, grooming and checking the animals.
- Cleaning stables and paddocks.
- Helping to prepare horses for treks and returning them to the yard.
- General help around the farm and with visitors when needed.
This is a simple, country / off-grid lifestyle. Please come with flexibility, a friendly attitude and readiness to help where needed.
Hours and days
- About 20β25 hours of volunteering help per week.
- Usually spread over 5 days per week with 2 days off.

Location and free time
The ranch is about 13 km inland from San Luis de Sabinillas on the Costa del Sol, surrounded by hills, open countryside and views of the white village of Casares. In free time volunteers can enjoy extra riding (when possible), walks in nature and visits to nearby beaches and villages such as Casares, Manilva and GaucΓn.
