Eco farm volunteering in Catalonia near Montseny (Arbúcies, Spain)
Hello! I am trying to live a self-sufficient life and I want to share this experience with others. I live near the village of Arbúcies, in the Montseny nature reserve in Catalonia, surrounded by trees and mountains. The place is off the grid, with basic facilities, water and a small solar system for charging phones. I am growing vegetables for my own use and to sell a little at local markets. I am looking for volunteers who would like to help with gardening, small building and maintenance tasks, cutting firewood and keeping the space clean and organised.
In exchange I offer a camping place, shared simple facilities and some meals on working days. You are otherwise independent, with your own small outdoor kitchen space and plenty of time to explore the forest and nearby rivers.

—— Castellano ——
Hola.
What type of host are you?
Private individual, small eco farm project.
What are you looking for help with?
- Cleaning and basic maintenance
- Computer / web support (if you have skills)
- Farming and gardening
- General practical help around the land
Mission and atmosphere
The idea is to live more simply and closer to nature, to learn practical skills and to share time with other people who
care about the planet. It is a relaxed place where you can hang out, make friends and enjoy the forest.
How many volunteers can you host?
Up to 3 volunteers at the same time.
When do you need volunteers?
All year round, depending on the weather and current projects.
How many hours of help per day?
Around 4 hours of help per day.
How many days of help per week?
Working days are arranged together, with a minimum of 2 days of help per week.
Are accommodation and food included?
Accommodation is a tent space on the land. On agreed working days I supply breakfast and lunch.
On non-working days volunteers cover their own food.
Type of accommodation
Sleeping is in tents (you should bring your own if possible). There is a simple shared building and a basic kitchen area for volunteers to cook their own meals on free days.
Diet
Food is usually vegetarian. Sometimes meat can be offered if everyone agrees. On working days we share breakfast and lunch together. At other times volunteers are independent and use the small kitchen space to prepare their own meals.
Visa
No, I cannot help with visas or invitation letters.
Volunteers’ benefits
Cultural exchange, learning about off grid and self-sufficient living, practising Spanish or Catalan, and sometimes live music with friends. There may be a little pocket money if there is extra work or special projects, to be agreed in person.
Free time
You can go hiking in the Montseny forest, walk along the river, visit nearby villages or play and listen to music at the farm. The beach is about 50 km away for day trips.
Languages spoken
Spanish, Catalan and English.
Geography
Trees, river and forest all around. The farm is set in the mountains of the Montseny natural park, with good shade in summer and fresh air all year.
How to get to the site
It is possible to arrive from Barcelona or Girona. From there you can take a Teisa bus towards Arbúcies. The closest train stations are Sant Celoni and Hostalric. The host can give more detailed directions once your stay is confirmed.
Is there internet access?
Yes, there is some internet access, but the signal is not very strong. It is better for checking messages than for heavy
work online or streaming.
