Jade Music Fest volunteer Vancouver
Jade Music Fest celebrates Chinese-language and mother-tongue music in Vancouver with concerts, community events and a special Granville Island takeover in November. As a Jade Music Fest volunteer you will support artists and audiences, help venues run smoothly, and be part of an inclusive arts festival that uplifts culture and language.
Jade Music Fest volunteer roles and schedule
Volunteering is shift-based across Nov 5–8 at Granville Island and the ANNEX. You can indicate your availability and preferred tasks when you apply. Typical roles include welcoming guests, supporting stage and artist needs, and helping the media team capture key moments. It is a friendly way to gain hands-on experience in live events while contributing to a festival that spotlights diverse voices.
What the festival looks for: reliability, good communication and a respectful attitude in a public-facing setting. Experience in events is welcome but not required; training is provided on-site so you can focus on helping the team and enjoying the music.
Example assignments (assigned after sign-up):
- Front of House and audience support
- Photographer or videographer for showcases
- Interpreter EN↔ZH for artists or guests
- On-site runner or “roaming music-cycler” for special moments
There is no fee mentioned for volunteering. If you love music, languages and community building, this is a great chance to meet the people behind JMF and learn how a city festival comes together. Read the festival overview before applying and share your skills, dates and role preferences in the form.

Before applying, ask yourself: is this a fair exchange, or could it replace paid labour?
Choose consciously, ask questions, and make sure the experience is respectful, safe,
and aligned with your values. Always check visa requirements—hosts cannot provide legal
work permits.
