The Yenching Academy of Peking University is set to host the Yenching Global Symposium (YGS) 2025 from April 17 to 20 in Beijing, China. This fully funded conference, themed “韧 Fortitude: Navigating the Tides of Change,” aims to bring together young leaders and scholars from around the world to discuss China’s role in addressing global challenges.
Application details
Eligibility
- Applicants should be born after May 1994.
- Must be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or hold such a degree in any field.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- A demonstrated interest in China-related topics is essential.
- Applicants should not have attended previous Yenching Global Symposiums or Yenching Social Innovation Forums.
Deadlines
- Early-Bird applications: Until December 19, 2024, 23:59 (GMT+8).
- Standard applications: Until January 2, 2025, 23:59 (GMT+8).
Required materials
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Short Essay Responses (50–250 words each) addressing:
- Motivation for interest in China and its relevance to your goals.
- Significance of YGS 2025 and its anticipated impact on you.
- Proposed solutions to a problem in your field needing development in your country.
- Evaluation of uncertainties countries face today and China’s preparedness to navigate these challenges.
- Video Essay (maximum 1 minute): Describe a global challenge and how your country and China can collaborate to resolve it.
