About the centre and the project: some information
The Geltoki project seeks to promote the social and solidarity economy, economic self-sufficiency and the construction of an open and plural initiative that fosters the social fabric. To this end, it has the ticketing area, the cafeteria and the common areas of the former bus station, a total of 900 square metres of surface area.
In the ticketing area we can find spaces dedicated to promoting, supporting, disseminating and serving as a platform for local artists outside the conventional art circuit by holding exhibitions or artistic events, as well as making visible alternatives to the current economic and agri-food model. Geltoki also has a space for the exhibition and sale of organic and fair trade products, vegetables from the garden of Navarre and crafts and objects recovered and prepared for reuse.
Areas & spaces centre
The cafeteria area is a space dedicated to promoting sustainable and healthy gastronomic culture by incorporating cultural, sociological and gastronomic values and satisfaction with a gastronomic offer that includes organic and fair trade products, vegetables from the garden of Navarre, ‘kilometre 0’ products, fresh and seasonal products.
The project has been developed thanks to the drive and work of a large number of associations, groups and social entities, with different levels of involvement and responsibility, around the Geltoki Iruñea Association and has been financed by loans from the ethical bank Fiare and by contributions made by small micro-finance companies through participation in a crowdfunding campaign.
Since its inauguration in June 2018, activity at the centre has been constant and it can be visited freely from Monday to Saturday throughout the year.
