Mission

Ivor from Livingston, Zambia opened 1 year ago a community school in his home, a free school, for children which parents can’t afford to pay for government/private school.

We have started with 8 kids, now we have 38. They all study in Ivor sitting room, some of them sit on the floor because there is not enough space. The kids are from 3 years old till 11 in different levels with one teacher.

Sillar, she is a teacher with a certificate of grade 1-4. Ivor works for free and manages this school from donations and volunteers. Together, we are looking for some teachers that can come and teach the children for free from 8:00 till 12:00.

General info

We provide education to the children’s age 5 to 14, women and youth programs for community development. We have about 40 children’s and a group of 6 woman and youths attending our home school and skills training.

Accommodation exchange

We provide free dinner for our guests and that’s local meals. We are currently looking for sustainable projects ideas from our volunteers to keep us going.

We accommodate volunteers and tourists who want to experience typical local Zambian life eat local foods, test local beers and interact with this childrens, woman and youths in my community.

We have one private room and shared rooms with bunk beds and transport is always available at the volunteer house.

We organize airport pick.

Any form of donations like old Men, women and children second hand shoes, clothes, books, etc are most welcome.

We also help arrange many tourist activities like

- vic falls
- bungee jump,
- game drives,
- boat cruise,
- helicopter rides,
- micro light,
- Chobe game pack in Botswana,
- Rural Area/Compounds visit Mukuni Village,
- white water rafting, etc.

I will be happy to welcome you and would try to make your stay unforgettable.

Teach children
Help to mark the books
Teach children to read especially vocabulary (English)
Help children with creative activities like outdoor events eg. Sport, poetry, traditional dance, drama, clubs like debate club
Interact with Orphan and
Visit (Orphans) guardian homes
Play with children and make them smile

Community Development Program

1. Help with administrative work
2. To teach children in rural community schools
3. To do farming and gardening at the orphan’s farm
4. To help with the poultry at the centre
5. Teaching skills like tailoring and computer at the centre
6. Community outreach
7. Marking books
8. Cooking for orphans
9. Sharpening pencils etc

Zambia is the land of the legendary African walking safari, home of the Victoria Falls the wild Zambezi River, breath_taking lakes and wetlands, abundant wildlife, wilderness and vibrant colourful culture, all in one friendly country. Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Africa. The neighboring countries are the Democratic republic of Congo to the north, Tanzania to the north east, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia to the south, and Angola to the west.

How to get to your site

My place is in Kalukuluku street off airport road, 3km from the airport and 2km to tthe own center. Volunteers take a taxi from the airport to my place.
