A celebration of sustainability & community
The European Ecovillage Gathering is set to return from August 12th to 17th, 2025, at the picturesque Manas Garden in Hungary. Hosted by the Mindenegyüttmegy Egyesület community, this year’s event is particularly special as it marks two important milestones: 30 years of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) and 20 years of Gaia Education.
The Gathering offers the opportunity for individuals passionate about sustainable living and community building to come together, share knowledge, and celebrate.
The program is a vibrant co-creation, featuring workshops and activities across six streams:
- Ecology:
- Topics include appropriate technology, natural building, energy communities, handicrafts, permaculture, regenerative agriculture, wild foraging, water/land/ecosystem restoration, and rewilding.
- Economy:
- Discussions on alternative economic systems and models, social and “green” entrepreneurship, and ethical funding opportunities.
- Social:
- Focus on community building, collective governance tools, conflict resolution, education, raising children in the community, intergenerational inclusion, health, social justice, and activism.
- Worldview:
- Exploring changing narratives, reconnecting with the living world, and spirituality.
- Ecovillage starter:
- Understanding what an ecovillage is and guidance on how to join or start one.
- Ecovillage In-depth:
- In-depth knowledge for seasoned ecovillagers, addressing challenges encountered by long-standing ecovillages and how they overcome them.
Additionally, the Gathering will feature morning activities such as yoga, meditation, and other forms of mindful body movement, as well as evening events like dances, music, singing circles, ceremonies, and storytelling. There will also be workshops specifically designed for children and youth, including theatre, crafts, arts, games, wilderness and outdoor activities, storytelling, physical activity, forest walks, and circus skills.
For those interested in contributing, the call for workshop proposals is open until March 31, 2025.
Selected workshop holders will receive a free ticket to the Gathering. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire others, share passions, and network with like-minded individuals!
