Review of a medical volunteering program from a UK volunteer
I stayed in Theresah’s home in Senya Beraku for 6 weeks whilst doing some Medical volunteering. Her family were very friendly and welcoming and I felt comfortable and at ease on arrival. Her house is nice and clean and it is in the ideal location – a short walk away from shops as well as the health centre where Theresah works and where I volunteered.
The location
Senya Beraku is a lovely village where I felt very safe! The locals are all friendly and helpful: I felt very comfortable to go out and explore on my own whenever I wanted.
The Medical volunteering experience in Ghana was itself eye-opening and interesting. Theresah also helped us set up a malaria outreach programme which us volunteers had fundraised for.
The volunteer coordinator
Overall my volunteering experience was better than expected and I have fond memories of my time in Ghana.
All the best,
Aneesah
