Normality is a paved road it’s comfortable to walk but no flowers grow – Vincent van Gogh

The quote “Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it” is widely attributed to Vincent van Gogh. However, there is no substantial evidence to confirm that he actually said or wrote this. The earliest known appearance of this quote is in a 2009 exhibition catalog titled “Vincent Van Gogh: Between Earth and Heaven: The Landscapes,” where it was featured on the front flap without a specific citation. Given the lack of credible sources linking this quote directly to van Gogh, its true origin remains uncertain.

Despite this, the message remains meaningful, powerful, and fundamentally true.
